About The Art Teachers

Welcome to the blog for Alicia's class at the PSD Lab school! We are so excited to have the opportunity to get to know the students and staff of such a wonderful school. Thank you for stopping in to see what we are working on in art class this semester! Every Friday for the next three months we will be working with Alicia's class to create our very own zoo. However, this zoo will not be like any other zoo in the world. Our goal for this zoo is to create habitats for individual animals while keeping their health and wellness as our top priority. Students will do this by researching all aspects of their animals behavior and needs to best design a habitat that fits these specific needs. Students will keep visual records of their research, findings, ideas, and plans in their sketchbook while they work through the creative process of designing an exhibit. By working on their individual animal exhibits, students will work collaboratively to create an all around animal conscience zoo! Through this project students will learn skills that are transferable to all academic areas such as intentional design, sequencing, problem solving, and collaboration.

Hi everyone! I am so excited for this semester! A few things about myself is that I am from Chicago and I love to travel. I love discovering new places and trying new things. Some of my hobbies include fishing, golfing, skiing, art, cooking and celebrating holidays, any reason to celebrate and have a good time. I love jokes so if you have any good ones let me know ASAP. My concentration in art is split between pottery and printmaking but I really enjoy doing it all. I first attended college at Regis university and transferred to Colorado State University to study interior design where I switched my major to art education. I have really enjoyed the program and looking forward to my student teaching opportunity in chicago!

Hello Lab school parents! Let me tell you a little bit about me. I am from Chicago and have been involved with art since before I can remember. Painting and drawing are among my favorite past times along with running, swimming, yoga, and simply being in good spirits with good people. I have been an art education student with a concentration in painting at CSU for the last four years. Wow, time flies! When I am not in school, I usually spend my time reading and doing my best to discover new interests. I can not wait to have a great semester at the lab school!

Hello everybody! This semester I have the privilege of working with Alicia's class. My intentions are to guide the students to think for themselves, teach students new art techniques and allow students to transfer their knowledge of art processes and problem solving to other curriculums. A few things about myself are that I'm a Colorado native and have been making artwork since I can remember. I received my graphic design degree in 2009 from Colorado State University. I enjoy art making of all sorts (drawing, painting, sculpting, weaving, dancing, etc.), traveling this magical planet, meditating, dreaming, laughing, hiking, biking and learning through experiences that take me out of my comfort zone. While traveling in Mexico in 2013, I saw how the arts brought happiness and beauty to people's lives. So after a wild hurricane and thousands of miles of traveling, I decided to return to Colorado to get my art teacher's license. Thus far it has been one of the most fulfilling decisions of my life and I look forward to the future and inspiring the imagination.
