Observe and Learn to Comprehend:
- Participating in individual and class discussions, quick writes, and brainstorming in sketchbooks, students will be able to:
-investigate and interpret works of art based on characteristics and expressive features of art and design.
-create generalizations about a work of art; including analyzing artist’s intent, cultural aspects, time, and artist; as well as make inferences and opinions on artworks due to these qualities.
Envision and Critique to reflect:
Students will talk about problems and solutions will viewing artwork in class allowing the students to:
-Familiarizes oneself with successful critiquing methods; including determining purpose/intent of artworks, making opinions and suggestions, evaluating aesthetic qualities of works.
-Evaluate process work in other works and own works through methods of planning, compilation of materials, strategies, step-by-step process, etc.
Invent and Discover to Create:
Asking students questions about the process of their artwork and documenting their responses allows students to:
-Consider including artistic qualities in the creating process: employing expressive ideas, communicative aspects (symbols, texture, etc.), express intended meaning, themes, technology, media exploration, tools and materials, studying historical works, etc.
Relate and Connect to Transfer:
By documenting students ideas during class discussions and interactive strategies such a choice cards, entry points, and collaborative brainstorming students will be able to:
-Use evaluation techniques/strategies to compare/contrast as well as understand research techniques
-respond to cultural/historical/communicative aspects of art to respectfully make discussions of works.
-Make considerations to the following when creating an artwork: characteristics/expressive features, make inferences to historical works/periods, ways of communicating, etc.
